Eucalyptus Hills sits between Lakeside and Santee, about 25 minutes east of our Poway shop off SR-67. The hillside lots and older homes here mean access and retrofit planning take a little more care than a flat suburban tract.
Eucalyptus Hills is older, hillier and more individual than the tracts around it. Homes here date largely from the 1950s through the 70s, tucked onto sloping lots between Lakeside and Santee.
That combination — mid-century construction on hillside lots — makes retrofits the name of the game. You rarely bolt in a modern system without solving an access, ducting or electrical wrinkle first.

HVAC in Eucalyptus Hills: the homes we work on
The 1950s-to-70s homes here were built before central air was standard, so many have added-on ducting, tight crawl spaces, and undersized electrical panels that need attention before a modern condenser goes in. The hillside lots add access challenges for equipment placement and line routing that a cookie-cutter installer often gets wrong.
Because every one of these homes is a little different, we treat them as retrofits, not swaps. Sometimes the right answer is a careful upgrade of the existing system with corrected ducting; on homes where running new duct is impractical, a ductless mini-split solves comfort without tearing the house apart. We look at the specific home before recommending either.
Local knowledge you can see
We serve Eucalyptus Hills across its hillside streets between the Lakeside and Santee sides, working around the slopes, mature eucalyptus and older lot layouts that define the area.
In June 2025 we retrofitted a 1960s hillside home here where adding conventional ducting to a back addition was impractical. The main system was fine, but two rooms never cooled. We installed a ductless mini-split to serve the addition and left the rest of the house on its existing system, solving the comfort problem without invasive duct work.
