Hidden Meadows sits about 24 miles north of our shop at 12155 Flint Pl in Poway, a straight run up I-15 past Escondido and a climb east into the hills off Deer Springs Road. It is a small, tucked-away enclave, and the winding private roads mean we plan our routes carefully — but we reach it regularly and keep the drive part of the same-day promise whenever the schedule allows.

This is custom-home country, not tract housing. Parcels spread across hillsides above the 700-foot mark, which means longer refrigerant line sets, split-level mechanical layouts, and equipment that has to move a lot of air through homes designed one at a time.

The elevation buys Hidden Meadows a few degrees of relief over the Escondido valley floor, but summer afternoons still push into the high 80s and the dry inland air is hard on condensers. We size and service systems for the way these homes actually sit on their lots, not off a spec sheet.

Homes here were largely built from the 1980s through the 2000s as semi-custom and full-custom builds, often single-owner and often with the original equipment quietly aging past its prime. Many run two or three zones across split levels, and a fair number were plumbed for propane rather than natural gas because of the rural setting.

That mix rewards a technician who reads the whole system. Long line sets need correct charge and proper insulation; multi-zone setups need dampers and thermostats that actually talk to each other; and hillside condensers collect dust and oak debris that we clear before it chokes airflow.
